Helping Craft Enterprises Grow with Dignity and Support

Every craft business begins with a dream—and sometimes, a little help. Across the country, many artisan entrepreneurs carry rich traditions and strong skills, yet they struggle to grow because they don’t have timely access to funds. Whether it’s for raw materials, production, new tools, or fulfilling a big order, traditional loans are often out of reach. That’s where the CD & Dreams Foundation Seed Fund steps in.
This initiative offers interest-free seed support to artisans who want to grow their businesses and strengthen their livelihoods—without the pressure of interest or complicated financial systems. It is designed as a lifeline for artisan-led and artisan-focused craft enterprises, giving them financial support exactly when it is needed most. And in times of vulnerability.

The seed fund ranges from ₹25,000 to ₹2,00,000, and artisans are not charged any interest. The funds can be used for a range of purposes: buying raw materials, starting production, managing inventory, or upgrading tools and equipment etc. Repayment terms are kept flexible. Smaller loan amounts are expected to be paid back over shorter timeframes, while larger loans of ₹1 to ₹2 lakh come with a repayment period of up to two years.

What makes this model unique is the involvement of Moral Guarantors. Every artisan who receives support is introduced by a guarantor—someone who knows the artisan personally and believes in their potential. The guarantor recommends committed and trustworthy artisans, helps verify their financial needs and goals, stays in touch through the repayment period, and alerts the team early in case of any issues. It’s a system based not on paperwork or penalties, but on trust, community, and shared responsibility.

With this seed fund, the goal is to ensure that no artisan has to stop or pause their work because of a financial hurdle. This is about protecting dignity, building resilience, and supporting growth. This is the first step towards building a credit score which could then lead to more structured debt as the enterprise grows.
