Creative Dignity’s Craft x Climate initiative explores how traditional craft practices can serve as models for sustainability and climate resilience. It highlights low carbon practices rooted in circularity, local materials, and mindful production—values that have long sustained both the planet and artisan livelihoods since the last 10,000 plus years.
Craft IP Working Group
Linked to CxC, this group is working on the issues and pathways to safeguarding cultural copyrights with a focus on GI case studies, information dissemination and legal access for communities and stakeholders.
The group is led by CD’s Steering Committee members and members of the CD Collective.
Handloom x Climate Impact Study with Kosha.ai
After the Craft x Climate Webinars that mapped various aspects of the growing awareness of sustainability around handmade production, CD is partnering an initiative with Kosha.ai to assess the carbon emissions of handloom production vis a vis powerloom and millmade production, highlighting handloom’s naturally low-carbon and sustainable processes. Using real time criteria, it will explore opportunities for carbon credit trading or alternate incentives that recognize and reward climate-positive craft practices.
