About Ambika Devi,

"Ambika Devi hails from Rasidpur village in Madhubani district, Bihar, once part of Mithila, an ancient city that is now divided between India and Nepal. Carrying on an artistic tradition passed down from mother to daughter, Devi herself learned the craft Of Madhubani painting from her mother, Smt. Leela Devi, at the age of 12. Over the years, Ambika Ji has developed a network of artisans who work with her to create beautiful Madhubani paintings. A resident of New Ashok Vihar, Delhi, her group of 12 female artisans find new meaning in reviving their age-old tradition in a contemporary context. In 2009, Ambika Devi received the National Award, and has since participated in several exhibitions, workshops and training programmes in various schools and colleges across India. She has also participated in Marie Claire - Dastkar fashion show, which brought together 15 designers with crafts persons from all over India to create trendy garments using traditional crafts in their own influential style. She was also selected by the HRD Ministry to conduct a 4-month training prgramme under its Guru-Shishya Parampara initiative."
