"Vishwasthali is a Basohli-based NGO in Jammu and Kashmir, registered and recognized by J&K government in 1998. Padmashri awardee Vijay Sharma is the guiding spirit behind the organization, working to revive the dying Basohli art. He is an Indian painter and art historian, known for his expertise in the Pahari school of miniature painting.A painting center was established by Vishwasthali organization in 2006. Several artists have been successfully trained and employed by the center since its
establishment. The organization arranges regular workshops and interaction camps with professional artists from different states."

"Basohli was formerly known as Vishwasthali, from where the organization takes its name.The organization’s aim is to preserve, disseminate and
develop the rich heritage of Basohli -Basohli Paintings and Basohli Pashmina. The Basohli Paintings have peculiar characteristics, stylized faces dominated by the large intense eyes. The most astonishing quality of Basohli painting is the use of homemade colors made from the roots flowers, leaves and barks of the trees."
